A roller rubber fender is a specialized type of marine fender designed to guide vessels safely during berthing and to absorb kinetic energy while allowing controlled movement along a quay, dock wall, or lock entrance. Unlike traditional static fenders that compress in place, roller fenders rotate upon vessel contact, effectively converting part of the impact energy into rotational motion. This guides the ship smoothly along the dock or structure, minimizing impact loads and avoiding sudden halts. It functions like a marine "guardrail", allowing vessels to enter tight spaces such as locks, dry docks, or ferry ramps with greater control and less tress on the hull and infrastructure.

1. Rubber roller: made of high-strength vulcanized rubber, often reinforced with steel or synthetic fiber cords. It shaped like a large wheel or drum, sometimes with grooves or ribs for traction.
