Anchor snubbers reduce the number and impact of snatch loads where the chain catenary has been depleted due to rough conditions causing significant boat movement

Reduces anchor drag

Since the snubber reduces the number and impact of snatch loads, the anchor is less likely to drag or break free

Used in lieu of additional scope

If the wind pipes up in a tight anchorage, deploying a snubber or deploying more snubber line can improve the anchor's holding power when scope cannot be increased. As always, adding scope is the better option.

Reduces the impact on the windlass

For boats without chain stoppers, deploying an anchor snubber reduces the wear-and-tear on the windlass and other ground tackle hardware. Note: chain stoppers should always be used on windlass systems; snubbers, once fully loaded, can transfer the load to the windlass - not exactly where you want it.

Better sleep

Anchor snubbers can eliminate or reduce the grinding or sawing noise associated with the chain rolling back and forth over the bow roller, and soften the boat's movement in windy conditions.
