Types of Marine Mooring Equipments
The marine mooring equipments produced by our company mainly include the following types:
Marine Chain Stopper
Boat Anchor Chain Stopper is generally installed on the deck between the ship's anchor windlass and anchor chain tube. It can fix the anchor chain, guide the anchor chain into the anchor chain tube, reduce the load on the anchor machine, bear the weight of the anchor and the inertial force generated by the ship during navigation, make the work of anchor chains and anchors smoother.
Marine Chock
Ship Mooring Chocks are typically installed at the bow, stern, and sides of the ship's hull walls or deck edges, which can guide mooring cables to extend from inside the ship to outside in a specific direction; Avoid direct friction between cables and bulkheads, deck edges, and protect cables and hull structures.

Marine Bollard
Marine bollards are a simple and cost-effective way to fulfill mooring requirements and safely secure vessels alongside jetties, berths, wharves, and dolphins in ports and harbors. We provides bollards with a range of design profiles, sizes, and mooring line capacities to suit all mooring applications.
Roller Fairlead
Marine Roller Fairlead is a critical equipment used in ships and marine engineering to guide and protect mooring ropes, chains, ensuring smooth movement under stress and reducing wear and friction. Fairlead rollers are usually fixed on a bracket with two or more rollers, and are mostly made of high-strength steel.
Advantages of Marine Mooring Equipments
Reliable Strength
Marine mooring equipments are a huge part of securing your boat, especially in strong tides, harsh winds and other extreme weather conditions. Having quality marine mooring equipments are essential for having superior strength during these weather conditions. Having this robust connection makes sure that your boat is going nowhere once you’ve positioned it.
Longevity
By investing in quality equipment from the get go, not only will your mooring operations be safer and more effective, but your mooring equipment will stand the test of time. Marine environments can be harsh, both above water and underwater, which can lead to UV damage, abrasion and other damage caused by salt water.
Reduced Risk Of Accidents
With improper or damaged equipment, there is an increased chance of accidents, which can put your crew, vessel and others at risk of serious injuries. Equipment of a poor quality can be prone to breakage, or not operate properly, which puts you and others at risk. Snapback accidents are serious accidents which occur when your mooring line or rope is under tension, and suddenly breaks/fails. This will cause the rope to recoil with speed and force, which can cause severe injuries on your boat.
Better Shock Absorption
It’s no secret that marine vessels are subject to lots of force, especially with waves, currents, wind and the movement of the tides. When these vessels are equipped with poor quality equipment, the shock absorption can be poor, resulting in accidents and structural failures. Quality mooring lines will be equipped for shock absorption, which will minimise the impact on the boar, preventing damage from occurring. This helps the safety of the vessel and protects it, which may not be possible with low quality ropes.
Abrasion Resistant
Marine mooring equipments can be subject to a lot of underwater turbulence, coming into contact with many materials and objects under water. This can easily lead to abrasion and friction, wearing down the line. Poor quality lines may be more susceptible to damage, becoming worn down quickly over time. By investing in high-quality mooring equipment, your ropes and lines will be able to withstand the abrasion and friction underwater without becoming seriously damaged, or unable to perform.
Precautions in Marine Mooring Operations
Don’t Allow Any Extra Crew Member on the Deck: Ensure that no extra personnel are present at the mooring station except those who are involved in the operation. Anyone who is not assisting in the mooring operation must be asked to leave the mooring station for his/her and other’s safety.
Consider Weather Condition: Before planning the mooring operation, consider the weather condition by taking factors such as wind and current. The ship’s master and responsible officer must have the details of current and future weather data before commencing the mooring operation.
Have knowledge of Snap Back Zone and Rope Bight: All personnel involved with the mooring operation should be aware of the snap back zones and rope bight. Click here to know more about this.
Check All the Mooring Equipment: Check all the equipment (mooring winch, drums, windlass etc.) involved in the mooring operation for any kind of problem. Proper routine maintenance is the key to ensure smooth running of mooring equipment and systems. Don’t forget to check the load sensors of mooring winches.
Check the Tail of Mooring Line: If the mooring wire line is provided with tail (short lengths of synthetic fiber rope which are placed in series with the vessel’s winch-mounted wires to decrease mooring line stiffness and thus to reduce peak line loads and fatigue due to vessel motions) ensure same size and material of tails are used for all lines in the same service (breast, spring and head lines). Different tail sizes and materials would lead to uneven load in the mooring line.
Tend One Line at a Time: Only one line should be tended at a time during mooring operation. If this is not done, it may increase the load in the other tended lines. If two lines are tended together it may lead to overloading and breakage. Follow the orders of the master or responsible ship officer properly to avoid any kind of mishap.
Keep a Check on the Mooring Line Load: Ensure that the allowable breaking load in any of the mooring lines does not increase 55% of its Maximum Breaking Load (MBL). This is to prevent the line from breaking.
Avoid Mixed Mooring: Mixed mooring is extremely dangerous. Generally, mooring lines of the same size and material should be used for all leads, if this is not possible due to the available equipment, all lines in the same service, i.e. breast lines, spring lines, head lines and stern lines should be of the same size and material.
Keep a Continuous Check: Load on the mooring lines must be checked continuously even after the mooring operation is over. If there is any change in the ship’s ballast condition, the lines must be slacked or tightened accordingly. The condition of the rope material should also be checked to foresee unfortunate accidents.
Arrange Mooring Lines Symmetrical: All mooring line must be arranged as symmetrical as possible with the breast line. The breast line should be perpendicular to the longitudinal centre line of the ship and the spring line should be parallel to the longitudinal centre line.
