Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene rope is a high performance synthetic fiber rope prized for its exceptional strength, low weight, and durability. Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHNWPE) is a subset of the thermoplastic polyethylene family, with a molecular weight of 3.5 to 7.5 million g/mol. Mechanical properties

·Low elongation:<3% at break (very little stretch)

·Zero water absorption

·Very low coefficient of friction

·Excellent fatigue resistance (long life even under cyclic loads)

 

Types and variants of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene rope:

·12-strand braided: common for marine use, easy to splice.

·double braid: inner core and outer jacket, often combined with polyester jacket for improved handling.

·coated UHMWPE: PU coating improves abrasion and UV resistance.

·heat-set & pre-stretched: improved dimensional stability (used in high performance applications)
