A closed chock (panama chock) is a guide for a mooring line or steel towing wire, which enables the line or wire to pass through a ship bulwark. Unlike open chocks, a closed chock can fully enclosed the mooring ropes to prevent the mooring ropes from slipping out.
It is widely used for various mooring configurations, including boats, cargo ships, vessels, port docking, offshore platforms etc.

1. The surface of the chock is galvanized, polished and painted to be smooth, so it can reduce friction or excessive wear of rope and prolongs the lifespan of mooring lines.
2. It can be installed or adjusted easily by simple mounting on the deck of the ship.
3. The closed chock is ideal for high-tension conditions by keeping the mooring ropes fully enclosed, it can secure the ropes or lines and prevent accidental unmooring.
4. Typically, it is made of cast steel or iron which is durable and can handle heavy-duty mooring hardware.
