A standard stockless anchor is a widely used anchor type in commercial and naval shipping, valued for its simplicity, ease of handling, and compatibility with hawse pipes. The stockless anchor features a straight shank with two pivoting flukes. This configuration enables the anchor to lie flat on the seabed, allowing the flukes to dig in under tension. The absence of a stock (crossbar) simplifies storage and handling, especially in hawse pipes.

Standard stockless anchors are produced in various sizes and weights to accommodate different vessel requirements. There are three typical variants of the stockless anchor exist to cater to specific requirements: 1. Hall Anchor: the most prevalent type, available in various sizes and finishes. 2. Spek Anchor: features a shorter shank and is designed for improved performance in certain seabed conditions. 3. JIS Stockless Anchor: it is manufactured according to Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS), suitable for a range of vessels.
